What Community Means to Affinity Wealth

BY ABIGAIL MCCLOSKEY

One of Affinity Wealth’s core values is community. During this time of quarantine, many of our community organizations, like churches and non-profit organizations are suffering. This is why Affinity Wealth decided to give to the Ministry of Caring.

The Ministry of Caring works with people in need throughout Wilmington. Because of the COVID virus threat, now they must prepare individual meals as opposed to the normal group meals. This is driving cost up substantially.  They also have many more people in need of these meals due to the virus outbreak.  To help during this difficult time, Affinity Wealth donated 2,000 bottles of water to the Ministry of Caring last week. As this crisis continues, and when it is over, we will continue to make our community a priority.

While we are isolated from our direct communities, whether it be church, restaurants, playgrounds, or even someone you see on the walking path with your dog, life is still going on for everyone. Community is one of our core values at Affinity Wealth Management. During this time, it is important for us to do something in terms of community outreach.

“Helping the community” has taken on a greater meaning in the last couple of months. It’s no longer just helping those less fortunate. It means supporting your local restaurants with takeout orders, if you have a favorite store, seeing if they have an Instagram account you can shop from, making sure your elderly neighbors have a way to get groceries, or doing a chalk drawing on the driveway to bring a smile to a passerby.

Right now, is a great time to ask yourself what community means to me, and is there anything I can do to help?
